CORRIGENDA

Unfortunately, a few errors crept into Richard Tomlinson's article, entitled 'Britain's last castles: Masonry blockhouses of the South African War, 1899-1902', which appeared in the Military History Journal (incorporating Museum Review), Volume 10 No 6, December 1997. The following corrigenda are hereby provided:

Page 206, right column, dates of construction: Note 7 should be added to the end of paragraph 1.

Page 210, left column, paragraph 4, line 4: 'Mooi River' should read 'Modder River'.

Page 213, Vereeniging pattern: Line 6 should read covered with a corrugated gabled roof with the gable end...'

Page 215, the 'one-offs', paragraph 2: Line 7 should read entrance, four loopholes and a window in the wall opposite and two loopholes and a window in each of the...'

Page 217, left column, paragraph 1, line 10, the word 'layer' should read 'thickness'.

Page 218, left column, paragraph 3: Line 5 should read 'sloping site on the side away from the railway, but the...'
