The next two meetings take place as indicated below at 8,15 p.m. in the Du Toit Room of the ATHENAEUM, 154 CAMPGROUND ROAD, NEWLANDS.


11TH MARCH: ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING followed by a documentary film show, "THE CUBAN MISSILE CRISIS", dealing with the 1962 confrontation between President Kennedy of the United States and Russia which could well have triggered off the Third World War.

8TH APRIL: DOCUMENTARY FILM SHOW: "VICTORY AT SEA", a survey from the American viewpoint of some of the battles of the Second World War. Beginning with Pearl Harbour it shows the Pacific and Atlantic battles, the invasion of Normandy and the Japanese air attacks on American ships.

13TH MAY: "THE ENIGMA OF ADOLF HITLER (PART II 1939-1945), the second talk of a two part series by Mr. Ted Buttery, world authority on the Hitlerian period.

10TH JUNE: A talk on South Africa's Frontier ("Kaffir") Wars (Provisional)

Meetings are held monthly at 8,15 p.m. on the second Thursday at the Athenaeum, a vintage converted dwelling with an unusual spiked spire, and three chimneys, next to Newlands Railway Station, below the line, at the foot of the bridge, just before the Cricket Grounds arid Kelvin Grove. VISITORS ARE WELCOME.
